“I lick my cheese and other notes from the frontline of flat-sharing” is a book or concept not dissimilar to the popular Post Secret series.
The book is a compilation of small notes that designer Oonah O’Hagan has collected through personal experience, friends or through submission online. These notes range from sweet, to furious to just plain dirty as flatmates resort to the written word to get their point across. They could relate to anything, for instance a borrowed item of clothing (see above), a comment on a particular housemates hygene or just notice of due rent.
Such notes include:
“Sorry to have to tell you this but a fuck off big RAT fell from the staircase from your flat into ours. Big fat fucker. I think we have a problem.”
“I needed that ham. Really needed it. GO SHOPPING.”
At a glance this book may appear a bit of a gimic, but if you look more closely it is a truely fascinating read. Each note can tell you so much about the person who wrote it. Their choice of paper for instance, did they just tear off half an envelope or use a pristine piece of note paper. Are there any friendly (or unfriendly) doodles? Was the note typed or scrawled in a frantic rage in red marker pen? They can range from genius to terrifying.
